Sterling Foundation Volunteers Remove 1,640 Pounds of Garbage from Local Streams
Thanks to the dedicated volunteers of the Sterling Foundation, including Virginia board members and organizers, a staggering 1,640 pounds of garbage has been removed from Sterling's streams. Approximately 60 bags of trash were collected during this event, marking a significant improvement in the cleanliness of local waterways.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to help with the Stream Clean-Up,” said a Foundation spokesperson. “While it’s amazing that so much was cleared, it’s also a reminder of how much work there is to do in keeping our environment clean.”
This successful clean-up not only improves the health of Sterling’s waterways but also reflects the strength of community action. The Sterling Foundation regularly organizes such events, and the support from volunteers makes a huge difference. In addition to stream clean-ups, the Foundation also maintains other local projects, like mowing along Sterling Blvd.
